The Nigerian Armed Forces have said that the success in the current fight against insurgency and other forms of criminality in the country is hinged on the application of knowledge in training, by junior level officers.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, said this at the graduation of the Junior Course 91 of the Armed Forces and Staff College, Jaji.

For 23 weeks, the 235 Junior Level Officers had undergone training at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, in command, analytical, and communication skills.

Their graduation and conferment of Pass Junior Staff Course PJSC by the Nigerian Armed Forces, mean they are now fully ready for the tasks ahead in contributing their quota towards addressing the nation’s contemporary security challenges.

The Chief of Naval Staff charged the officers to carry out their responsibilities, within the purview of the Armed Forces Act.

He said the knowledge gained during training will enable junior commanders to leverage the vast socio-cultural differences within their area of operation to achieve mission objectives.

For the first time at the college, a new course on National Cultural Studies was introduced to help the officers cope with language barriers during counter-insurgency operations.
