Former Minister of Defence, Lt. General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), has taken the blame of banditry and insecurity bedevilling the country to the doorstep of the Federal Government, accusing it of complacency and complicity.
General Danjuma made the assertions at the weekend at Wukari, Taraba State during formal installation and presentation of Staff of Office to the paramount ruler of the Jukun race, His Majesty, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali,
The former Chief of Army Staff recalled that few years ago he was ridiculed for calling on Nigerians to rise up and take up arms to defend themselves, since the armed forces seemed to collude with the none state actors to cause mayhem across the country.
According to him, he has now been vindicated, following the current spate of banditry and insecurity of lives and property which have now assumed alarming and dangerous dimensions.
Lt. General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma emphasised that the country is under siege by armed bandits.
