INEC Chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu, just announced the rescheduling of the Presidential and National Assembly elections to the 23rd of February and the governorship and State Assembly elections to the 9th of March, 2019.

He cited logistics challenges as reason for rescheduling the polls.

Reports from some zones indicate there were several logistics lapses, suggesting that the commission was not quite ready to conduct a credible election.

The chairman admitted this lack of preparedness and said the rescheduling would give the commission time to address the issues identified.

INEC will meet with key stakeholders at 2 pm this Saturday, in Abuja, to brief them on the rescheduling of the elections.
