Imo State House of Assembly on Thursday witnessed a rowdy session, following the suspension of the Minority Leader, Anyadike Nwosu, and five others by the Speaker, Paul Emezim.

The Speaker, in an emergency plenary session held under tight security, suspended the lawmakers indefinitely for what he called ” unparliamentary conducts.”

Reacting to this development, the immediate past Chief Whip of the House, Authur Egwim, who was also removed as Chief Whip, described the action by the leadership of the House as illegal and ill-motivated.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, member representing Oguta Constituency, Frank Ugboma, said that his party members would approach the courts.

Also, the Chairman House Committee on Information in the Imo State House of Assembly, Johnson Duru, insisted that the suspension of the lawmakers was not politically motivated, adding that the action was to restore sanity in the House.

It is hoped that the parties will come together and resolve the issues amicably in the interest of the state.
