Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ended a working visit to the Ebonyi State Police Command with a charge to personnel to adopt professionalism in the discharge of their constitutional duties.

The Police boss who addressed the officers and men at the State Command headquarters in Abakaliki believes that the aftermath of #EndSARS protests in the country has made Nigerians realised the value of Police operatives being on the roads.

IGP Adamu insists that the Police were still loved by the people, contrary to the impression created by media reports, indicating a loss of confidence by Nigerians on the security agency.

While extolling the Police officers for what he described as their decent behavior while the protests lasted, says their level of professionalism prevented the country from plunging into a state of anarchy.

Going forward, the Police boss wants his men and officers to employ all legitimate measures to forestall further breakdown of law and order in the country.

Giving graphic details of the level of destruction suffered by the Ebonyi State Police Command in the hands of the violent #EndSARS protesters, the Commissioner of Police, Philip Maku notes that about four of his men had lost their lives as a result of the attacks.

The visit of the IGP to Ebonyi State which is in continuation of his nationwide tour of police formations affected by the protests are geared towards encouraging the operatives who had become demoralised as a result of the violent protests.
