Despite the ceaseless insecurity challenges confronting the Nigeria’s food basket rendering a sizeable number of its peasant farmers homeless, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has insisted that he will not succumb to raise a militia as two wrongs do not make a right.

Ortom who stated this when he received the middle belt brain trust delegation in Makurdi, the state capital, felt the pain of agitators across the country but urged them to desist from destruction of public property as it will deny them the opportunity to make things right.

The middle belt brain trust delegation was led by the former Defence Minister, Martin Luther Agwai. They were on a peace building mission with a plan to meet with critical stakeholders to understand the dynamics and develop local peace stability processes.

The chief security officer of the state was particularly worried about the the poor handling of security issues that have led to the continued killings and displacements of his people.

He appreciated donors for the support received to help the state cater for its ever increasing displaced persons.

He took a swipe at indegenes in authority who he said are working against the interest of the state and its people.

Governor Ortom, however, appealed to agitators across the country to fight for their rights peacefully.
