The House of Representatives has directed the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission to immediately suspend its planned increase in electricity tariff nationwide.
The House Committee on Power gave the directive in Abuja after an emergency public hearing with the Ministry of Power, Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, Generating companies and Distribution companies.
The Chairman of the Committee Honourable Magaji Aliyu also criticized the role of the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company for working at cross purposes to its obligations established by law.
