The World health Organization W.H.O has called for the scaling up of Hepatitis-B birth dose vaccination within Africa

The W.H.O Regional Director Dr Matshidiso Moeti who was represented by the Country Representative of Nigeria Dr Walter Mulombo, spoke on the heels of the Global hepatitis day, saying that about seventy-one million Africans still suffer from chronic hepatitis-B within the continent

Dr Mulombo says this results to about three hundred deaths daily, arising from liver cancer and other complications

He says the W.H.O is worried that only thirteen African countries undergo birth dose vaccination despite the low cost of the vaccines

Dr Mulombo is calling for political will to reduce new infections by ninety per cent and deaths by sixty per cent.
