Health Matters: Reps Urge FG To Stop Spread Of Anthrax In Nigeria

The house of representatives Tuesday called on the federal government to put measures to stop the spread of Anthrax in the country.

Hon. Tanko Lokoja the federal lawmaker representing Suleija/Tafa/Gwarara federal constituency of Niger State noted that laboratory test conducted on collected samples by the Natonal Veterinary Research Institute, confirmed the first reported case at a livestock farm located in Gayin village along the Abuja Expressway, Suleija, Niger State.

The Lawmaker says symptoms includes sudden death and blood oozing from natural body openings such as nose, ear, mouth and anal region from affected livestock, bush meat and contaminated environments could affect humans who come in contact with such animals.
