Disgraced filmmaker Harvey Weinstein who has been sentenced to 23 years imprisonment on March 11th 2020 on charges of one felony count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by use of force and sexual battery by restraint.
He had his lawyers file legal documents on the 9th of March to lay out personal matters, in order for the judge to reduce his jail time. Claiming that since Ronan Farrows New Yorker article which was published in 2017, the filmmaker’s life was destroyed, his wife left him and he lost his job at the Weinstein Company.
The document also prays the court to look into the fact that Harvey Weinstein has no Criminal records, and also look into his charitable deeds including millions he contributes to the 9/11 firefighters and police officers.
Harvey Weinstein now faces a 23 years sentence in jail for rape in the third degree and criminal sexual act in the first degree. It is not yet clear if the ruling will be appealed.
