Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has called on teachers in the country to be positive change agents in the growth, development and well-being of the students and the nation.
Buhari made the call on Friday at the celebration of the 2018 World Teachers Day in Abuja.
President Buhari said Nigerian children were pillars of strength and drivers of economic growth, hence the need for teachers to be positive influencers of students could not be overemphasised.
He said the government was aware of the challenges facing the teaching profession and is committed to the addressing those challenges such as low wages, and lack in-service training.
The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamualso said that the ministry was working toward attracting the best brains to the profession to provide the nation with the required skilled human capital.
