Gunmen identified to be bandits, have killed a staff and abducted an unspecified number of students, at the Greenfield University in Kaduna.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who spoke to reporters at the school’s premises, said they are yet to ascertain the number of students abducted.

Greenfield University, Kaduna, is located along kilometre 34, on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, at Kasarmi village.

It is a private university that began operation in the 2018/2019 academic session, with two faculties and 15 courses.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs said it received a distress call at 8:30 pm, that gunmen, identified to be bandits, have laid siege on the school.

Unfortunately, before the military could get to the scene, the bandits had killed a staff and abducted an unspecified number of students at the institution.

Aruwan said they are not losing sleep, as the military is on top of the situation.

The abduction of the students at Greenfield University is happening less than two months after 39 students were kidnapped from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka in Kaduna State.
