The Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has moved to tackle security issues in Ogoniland after declaring that his administration is working closely with concerned agencies to tackle rising insecurity and cultism in the area.
Wike made the declaration on Thursday at the Government House, Port Harcourt, while addressing a team of Ogoni political leaders, traditional rulers and youth groups.
He also further assured Ogoni political leaders that his government is doing everything possible by deploying necessary machinery to restore peace in the troubled areas.
Wike also warned against the illegal removal of government recognised chiefs by unauthorised persons. He said such illegal actions can lead to conflicts that can degenerate into insecurity.
