The Gombe state government says it would pay the sum of 775 million naira to 1, 300 pensioners who retired in 2015.
The state government disclosed this during the verification and disbursement of cheques to the pensioners urging for patience from the pensioners to enable the state government to complete the payment of their entitlements.
The pensioners on their part said that the move would be of benefit to their lives urging the state government to sustain the tempo.
It had been a long wait for the pensioners seeking their entitlements since 2015. For them, the payment of their entitlements is a welcome development.
The pensioners had to go through some form of screening by the state government before the payment of their entitlements.
Prior to the payment of these gratuities, the state government had set up a committee to look into the payment of their entitlements to ensure transparency.
