The Gombe State government says it would propose three bills to the State House of Assembly, the child protection law, the violence against person prohibition law for domestication, and the policy against early child marriage.

The State Commissioner for Justice, Zubariru Umar, disclosed this during the commemoration of the day for the girl child in the state where he further disclosed the proposed punishment for a rape offender is castration.

Another avenue to highlight the plight of the girl-child in northern Nigeria comes into focus with the issues of the well-being of the girl child being at the front burner.

Beyond the commemoration of the day of the girl-child are the issues of child marriage, girl-child education, and an increasing number of rape amongst women and girls.

This formed the topic for discussion for these women activists and officials of the state government.

As such, the Commissioner of Justice highlighted some policies that would be implemented soon.

This is a huge victory for the advocates for the emancipation of the girl-child in Gombe as the expectations for a stable society remains a dream not far from.
