The president of Ghana, Nana Akufo- Addo, has suspended four high court judges found guilty of corruption. The sack is in line with the recommendations of a special committee set up to investigate their case, and which found wanting.

The corruption was exposed in 2015 by an undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who admitted he has over 500 hours of video evidence that shows the judges asking for bribes and in other cases demanding for sex. They also collected items like a goat as a bribe.

The judges were also caught on camera taking the actual bribe in order to influence the outcome of the court cases.

The documentary revealed the rot in the judicial system and shocked the nation at its release. So far, more 20 judges and 170 judicial officials have been implicated in the scandal and awaiting their fate.

Twenty judges and magistrates have already been tried and found guilty of bribery and have been dismissed from their jobs as a result.
