Ghana’s Comptroller General on Immigration Services, Laud Affrifah has issued a direct order to regional commanders to be on high alert over the prison break that occurred in Owerri State of Nigeria.
Affrifah is of the impression that there is a high possibility that the convicts who escaped the correctional centre may seek refuge in Ghana to prevent a possible recapture. he has instructed all to have their hands on deck and increase visibility on unapproved routes into the country.
The jailbreak, termed as one of the largest in Nigeria’s history, occurred after gunmen attacked the facility setting thousands free. Although some prisoners have willingly returned on grounds of a likely pardon, the majority of the prisoners are at large.
