Gender Violence: Women Situation Room Tasks Journalists On Balanced Reportage

Media practitioners have been charged to uphold professionalism while reporting violence against women which has negative impacts on the society.

The women Situation room Nigeria gave this advice at a one-day training for thirty journalists on effective media sensitive reporting and strengthening understanding of dynamism of Sexual and gender-based violence in Kaduna.

Programme officer, Timothy Laurence, says cases of SGBV against women are neglected and unreported, hence the need for media to be deliberate and more sensitive in their reportage.

One of the facilitators, Felicia Bodi says, media practitioners must wake up to consistently reporting issues of gender violence.
