France, Italy and Spain begin to experience drops in COVID-19 death rate

In a statement released on 27 April by France’s health ministry, the recorded number of COVID-19 cases in France jumped by 437 to 23,293. This is a 1.9 increase and the highest the nation has recorded in 4 days but lower than the 4% rate recorded in 10 days.

The nation also experienced a drop in the number of infected patients in the intensive care unit and also the number of infected patients in the hospital. The number fell from 4,682 to 4,608 and also from 28,217 to 28,055 respectively.

The 3 European countries hardest hit by the virus Italy, France, and Spain recorded experienced a drop in the number of COVID-19 death. Italy authorities disclosed that 260 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours which is the lowest increase in a day since 14 March.

Likewise in France, the recorded daily death toll on Sunday was 242 which has been the lowest recorded since March. In Spain also, the number of deaths recorded for COVID-19 dropped to 288 which is the lowest recorded since 20 March and a decline from the 378 recorded on Saturday. Some of the restrictions were eased in Spain on Sunday.

Children are now allowed to go outside for a month and 2 weeks of being indoors. Spain is the third country with the highest recorded number of death after the United States and Italy with a 23,000 death poll. However, the authorities in Spain feel the worst phase is over as they eased the lockdown that was imposed on March 14.
