Former UEFA president, Michel Platini released by French Police

Former UEFA president, Michel Platini has been released from custody by the French police after questioning for 15 hours with regards to the Qatar 2022 World Cup bidding process.

The French football legend was arrested on Tuesday morning and questioned at the Anti-Corruption Office of the Judicial Police as the French authorities stepped up their investigations into alleged corruption during the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar.

Former UEFA president, Michel Platini released by French Police

The 63-year old was released without a charge leveled against him after his lengthy interrogation.

Qatar won the hosting right to the 2022 World Cup ahead of the United States in December 2010, a decision that shocked the footballing world and raised eyebrows of possible monetary influence for the voting process.
