Nur Hassan Hussein, the former Prime Minister of Somalia has died from the COVID 19 virus. A member of his family confirmed his passing at a hospital in London, United Kingdom on Wednesday, the 1st of April, very early in the morning around 5am.

Nur Hassan Hussein was born in Somalia on the 16th of February 1937. He began his career as a police officer in Somalia in 1950 before Somalia gained her independence in 1960.

He studied Law at the Somalia National University before he continued on to study at the Fiscal Law School in Rome.
In 1987, he became the chief police officer and Attorney General while Siad Barre was President. Hussein maintained his position until 1992 when Somalia had its civil war.

On the 22nd of November 2007, Hussein was nominated to be the Prime Minister of the country by the then president of the country, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed.

Hussein was approved as the Prime Minister of Somalia but the Transitional Federal Parliament on the 24th of November 2007 and he was appointed as Prime Minister on the 2nd of December 2007.

Hussein served as Prime Minister of Somalia for two years, his tenor reigning from the 24th of November 2001 to 14th of February 2009.
