The former England captain played 81 matches for England and has described the role given to him as “an honour” and hopes to inspire the masses to be involved as volunteers and supporters.
The Euro 2020 championship is a year away from its kick off and ticket sales were officially opened on Thursday.
The 2020 European Championship which is the 60th edition of the tournament, will take place in 12 European cities, with England’s Wembley Stadium will host seven games – including both semi-finals and the final.
