Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has recommended ways to stabilize the value of the Naira. The former Central Bank Governor advised the CBN to fund the various Bureaux de Change (BDC) across the country as this will impact managing speculation.
Following the shockwaves caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Sanusi suggested those measures as he claimed that there are a lot of shocks which the Banks have no control over, and this measure will help close the gap between CBN and the NAFEX.
He further stated that doing so will drive transparency which is what the International Monetary Fund has been going after. Sanusi established that without question the Naira will indeed lose value but stated that it is indeed pertinent that should we want to preserve the value of the Naira, a rapid and disorderly manner is no way to go.
