Frank Lampard has returned to Chelsea as interim manager until the end of the season following the sacking of Graham Potter, the Premier League club confirmed on Thursday (April 6).
The club’s record goalscorer previously spent 19 months as manager at Stamford Bridge before being dismissed in January 2021.
The 44-year-old former England international will be tasked with getting as much as he can out of what remains of Chelsea’s season after they spent almost 300 million pounds in the January transfer window.
Winning a third Champions League title now appears as the only remaining path to securing qualification for the competition next season with a quarter-final tie against Real Madrid to be played this month.
