With the unprecedented rainfall being experienced in Nigeria leading to flooding in riverine communities, government at all levels has been urged to step up intervention to assist communities affected by such disasters.

One of such communities is Sabon Gida in Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State where residents woke up with their houses, farmlands, and properties almost submerged by rising water levels.

When reporters visited, the affected persons were seen when the waters receded salvaging what they could to enable them to move to safer places.

The cause of the flooding is a dam in the area that broke its banks.

The community members still counting their losses, are, however, grateful to God that no life was lost. They appealed to the government to come to their aid.
