Fleeing Adamawa Covid-19 patient found in Gombe State

Adamawa State Government says it has in its custody, one of the two returnees from Gombe State that escaped before the release of their test Coronavirus results, which turned out to be positive.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri revealed this, while briefing reporters on the state’s easing of lockdown.

There was tension in Adamawa State when the news went round that the state had received some COVID-19 patients from Gombe State, Governor Fintiri in a broadcast, clarified the information.

He said the Gombe State Government returned some Adamawa indigenes who were on transit through the state, after most of them were certified free of the virus and having completed their days in quarantine.

The state also received a report from the Gombe State Government that two people among the returnees whose samples were collected and confirmed positive, had escaped before their results were received.

According to the Governor, one of the patients has been tracked down and now at the state treatment facility while the whereabouts of the other COVID-19 patient is still unknown and the government is using all available means to get him.

With this development, Adamawa State now has seven confirmed patients of COVID-19 at it treatment centre.

The government has also relaxed the lockdown in the state, in line with some of the measures taken by the Federal Government.

Other measures peculiar to the state include a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am and that civil servants from level 12 upwards are to resume work on Monday, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
