FG Introduces New Vehicle Registration

In line with the Strategic Revenue Growth Initiative in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning has said that it has adopted the National Vehicle Registry, VREG, Automated Gateway Portal, as a means to leveraging technology infrastructure to maximize revenue generation as well as enhance national security.

This was made known in Bauchi during a seminar for revenue-generating agencies in the North Eastern States by the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.

The Minister lamented that the dwindling revenue orchestrated by the fall of oil prices mono-economy has further worsened the revenue leakages.

She said the new modern VREG will curtail the high rate of kidnapping and utilization of vehicles in crime perpetrated terrorism.

The project was said to have commenced from the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS.

The seminar is to educate the agencies on the registration process and vehicle transfer processes.
