Following the 2019 predictions of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NIMET, on climate change and weather, the Federal Government in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD, is training farmers in Anambra State on precautionary measures.

NIMET had predicted that there will be hot weather conditions which will give rise to growth of pests and diseases.

As such, farmers were urged to monitor their farms and report to the authorities if they found anything unusual.

Farmers who participated in the training appreciated the organizers as the predictions will help them optimize their output, and be better prepared for the 2019 farming season.

They were also advised to take insurance cover for their farms and crops as precautionary measures.
