The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC,  has been accused of short changing the system with the appointment of consultants to probe banks over the collection of stamp duties by commercial banks.

The National Economic Council (NEC), chaired by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has directed the RMAFC to probe 22 banks over stamp duty collection which the banks allegedly failed to remit to the Federal Government.

But the Nigeria Civil Service Union is accusing RMAFC that rather than deploy its professional staff to carry out the probe, the Commission decided to appoint consultants to carry out its statutory responsibility.

The RMAFC is the only body constitutionally vested with the powers to monitor all revenue accruals into the federation account.
