FG, Cross River Partner On Digital Agriculture

In a bid to improve food security in Nigeria, the Cross River State Government has partnered with the Federal Government in the training of women and youths on digital farming and its value chains.

The programme which is under the initiative of Agro-Processing, Agricultural Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support, APPEALS Project, has trained over 1, 700 young farmers in the state.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony at Itigidi, Abi Local Government Area of the state, the National Project Coordinator of APPEALS, Sani Jobdi, said the program has contributed significantly to food security, poverty reduction, livelihood improvement, and economic diversification in Nigeria.

Cross River State Government on its part said it will continue to invest in such agricultural programs to produce green millionaires, even as the beneficiaries commended Governor Ben Ayade over the project.

The program which was a tripartite partnership contribution of Cross River State, the Federal Government, and the World Bank, is aimed at empowering women and youths in modern agricultural sector development in rice, maize, cassava, and yam production.
