The struggle for inclusion by the Indigenous Peoples of the Federal Capital Territory appears to be yielding results as an FCT native has been appointed a Federal Commissioner in the Public Complaints Commission.

The appointment comes after the public outcry by the indigenous people demanding that justice be served to the people of the FCT who said they have suffered marginalization over the years.

About two months ago, the National Assembly approved the appointment of 38 Federal Commissioners into the Public Complaints Commission but no appointee of FCT extraction made the list.

The indigenous people of the FCT threatened to stage a mass protest to the National Assembly if nothing was done to reverse the decision.

Today, an FCT native has been appointed as a Federal Commissioner.

The appointee, Musa Dhalhatu has been at the forefront of demanding the rights of indigenous people and hopes to do more.

The FCT indigenous people insisted that they are equal stakeholders in the Nigerian project and must not be treated as second-class citizens.
