EU, U.S. Threaten Nigerian Politicians With Sanctions Over 2019 Polls

The European Union, United Kingdom and the United States of America said they will blacklist any politician involved in violating the electoral process.

The group, which was led by the Permanent Representative to the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Catriona Laing, paid a courtesy visit to the acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

While appreciating the international observers for their active role in sustaining Nigeria’s democracy, Adamu assured the group of the forces’ preparedness to ensure peaceful conduct of the polls.

The Nigerian Police and members of the international election observer groups agreed to work together to ensure that political parties play by the rules.
