The European Union and the Swedish Embassy in Nigeria are among the latest international bodies to condemn Tuesday’s killings of unarmed protesters by the Nigerian soldiers.

In a statement, the High Representative and Vice-President of the EU, Josep Borrell, said it is alarming to learn that several people have been killed and injured during the ongoing protests against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Nigeria.

The statement further hinted that it is crucial that those responsible for the abuses be brought to justice and held accountable.

Also, a statement by the Swedish Embassy in Nigeria said the Swedish Government is concerned about the information showing the use of disproportionate force by security forces at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos seemingly resulting in deaths of some #EndSARS protesters.”

It called for the respect for human rights and peaceful demonstrations.
