Ethiopian Airlines Begins Flights To Enugu

Ethiopian Airlines Group, Africa’s largest airline, will launch a weekly passenger service to Enugu, Nigeria, beginning October 9, 2021. Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday are the days when the flights are available.

The airline had planned to resume the service, which it had discontinued two years ago on October 1st to honor the Independence Day commemoration, but it was shifted due to tensions in the South East.

Ethiopian Airlines is one of the country’s oldest established airlines, having operated in Nigeria since 1960, creating trade, cultural, and tourism ties between the two countries. Passengers from Enugu will be able to fly directly to many destinations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, South America, and Europe thanks to Ethiopia’s extensive network and contemporary fleet, as well as experience the airline’s signature hospitality.

Mr. Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, pledged that the company would continue to strengthen its service delivery to Nigeria.

Nigeria has always been and will continue to be, one of our most popular West African locations. We are always improving our products and services to meet the needs of our customers, and the reintroduction of services to Enugu is important to reaching our clients across Nigeria. We appreciate the Nigerian people’s and government’s continued support in resuming our service to Enugu.”

Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines

Passengers from the airline’s four Nigerian gateways – Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Enugu – will now be able to fly to more than 130 Ethiopian worldwide destinations across five continents, according to the airline.

Ethiopian Airlines was the first international airline to fly to Enugu in 2013, however, the service was suspended for two years while the airport was being renovated.
