The curfew imposed in Akwa Ibom State from Thursday, October 22, to 12 noon on Friday, October 23, has been extended to 7 am on Saturday, October 24.
A statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Ini Emem-Obong, cited what it referred to as developing situations being monitored by the state government and security agencies and the need to protect citizens and property, based on overriding public interest.
The statement further stated that there would be a total cessation of movement, except for those on essential duties, who must show proper identification and advised all law-abiding citizens to remain at home, as security agencies had been briefed to strictly enforce the order.
