Emma Coronel Aispuro has in a court in Washington pleaded guilty to a series of charges including conspiracy to distribute illegal drugs with Joaquin Guzman the infamous El Chapo who is currently facing a life sentence in Colorado for money laundering and drug trafficking.
Aispuro could face life imprisonment and face a $10 million fine after pleading to three counts conspiring to launder money, distribute illegal drugs and engaging in financial dealings with the Sinaloa drug Cartel.
She also confessed to helping El Chapo successfully escape from prison in 2015 through a grandiose tunnel escape plan.
She is regarded as one of the most poerful women in narcotrafficking, she was a former beauty queen, who studied journalism and now has twins with Joaquin Guzman. According to her, they had both met at a dance party when she was 17 and he 49.
Her father was also loyal to the cartel before he was caught by law enforcement. She has been quoted to say the following about the drug baron
“I don’t know my husband as the person they are trying to show him as, but rather I admire him as the human being that I met, and the one that I married.”
