Democrats have filed the impeachment charges against President Donald Trump and they include the following charges according to the committee chief, Jerry Nadler

  • The first allegation is that he exercised the powers of his public office to “obtain an improper personal benefit while ignoring or injuring the national interest”, by allegedly pressuring Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 presidential election
  • The second allegation is that “when he was caught, when the House investigated and opened an impeachment inquiry, President Trump engaged in unprecedented categorical and indiscriminate defiance of the impeachment inquiry…”, thereby obstructing Congress

According to the Democrats, Donald Trump committed impeachable offences that involve abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. However, the sitting president has continued to state that he did nothing wrong and describes the process as “madness”.

Eliot Engel the House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman stated that it isn’t a happy day, but he thinks the Democrats are doing what they have to do. The formal announcement which is the impeachment of the President 11 months before the next generation election is set to be aired on Tuesday morning.

The prospected visit of the newly elected President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to the Oval Office to pressurize the former Soviet State into investigating the potential year 2020 for Joe Biden and also the unlawful withholding of nearly $400 million in the US military aid to Ukraine is put together an offence worthy of impeachment.

The Republicans frowned at and made efforts to debunk and rule out all the facts stated by witnesses gathered from ranks of foreign policy and military officers. They argued and denied that the President didn’t do anything wrong or anything at all to deserve impeachment. Donald Trump himself made a statement at the white house but didn’t make any attempt to deny the evidence.

As the Republican and Democrats’ go head in head to disagree with one another Rep Doug Collins of Georgia the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee put it at Nancy Pelosi the House Speaker that she only just rushed into impeachment. He had expectations that a full house vote should be held next week on the issue.

Democrats debunked what the republicans said about them just jumping into Impeachment and not confirming the fact. They stated that Trump has turned down over 70 requests for evidence and also that they were left with no choice than to declare the obstruction of congress by Trump in respect to him blocking testimony from Key Officials.

If President Donald Trump is impeached, he would join past presidents, Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton in the league of past impeached presidents of the United States.
