Rev. Fr. Jude Onyebadi, Parish Priest of Saint’s Peters & Paul, Issele Asagba, delta state, has been abducted for the second time in four years.
Rev Jude, was said to have been kidnapped on his farm by gunmen who are suspected to be herdsmen when he went to supervise the running of the farm.
The first abduction happened in 2016, also on his farm, but he was released several days later. Onyebadi was abducted with three of his workers this time, but his workers were later released while the Rev is still being held hostage.
A search party has been carried out by family members and the community but there has been no sign of Rev Jude.
Rev. Fr. Charles Uganwan, Communication Director, Catholic Diocese of Issele Uku, confirmed in a statement that the matter has been reported to security agencies and church member are conducting a prayer session for his safe return.
Uganwan said the kidnappers have not been in contact so far. Police Public Relation officer, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said the Police are on the case to rescue REV Onyebadi.
