DANGOTE SUGAR REFINERIES 2017 PROFITS IN BILLIONS

During the Dangote group’s annual general meeting which held yesterday, the chairman of Dangote Sugar Refineries, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, said the company had done remarkably well.

 

According to him, revenue grew to 204.42 billion naira in 2017 from 169.72 billion naira which was a 20.4 percent rise, while profit before tax rose from 9.61 billion naira to 53.6 billion naira.

 

Profit after tax stood at 39.78 billion naira against the 14.4 billion naira made in 2016.

 

Dangote Sugar Refineries in a bid to reward shareholders have increased dividend paid for 2017 by 192 percent from 7.2 billion naira to 21 billion naira which is now a rise from 60 kobo per share to 175 kobo per share and will be paid out from today.

 

Aliko Dangote said the board recommended that a payment of 15-billion-naira final dividend be paid at a rate of 125 kobo for the year ending 31 December 2017.

Although the board approved an interim dividend payment of 6 billion naira at 50 kobo per share.

 

Total dividend for the year 2017 which is under review will now be 21 billion naira.

 

He mentioned, however, that the company had invested a total of 121 billion naira on equipment, land acquisition, consultancy services and compensation to landowners.
