Following the new development with Dangote Industries, the government of Kaduna State and Peugeot of France collaboratively are setting up the Dangote Peugeot Automobile Assembly; Dangote group has invited tenders from members of the general public for its construction.
The intended location for the automobile assembly plant is at Dutse in Kaduna State. The plant will have testing tracks, external services, ancillary building and an assembly plant among others.
Although PAN Nigeria was to be sold to private investors as earlier proposed, this is now being questioned regarding its possibilities with the planned construction of the Dangote Peugeot Automobiles. PAN is currently under the Asset Management Company of Nigeria(AMCON).
In 2015, there were discussions between the Federal Government and prospective investors regarding the bid for the acquisition of PAN Limited and what companies had the highest bid.
The Head of Corporate Communications of AMCON, Jude Nwuzor told a reporter that the transaction is still on-going and transactional experts are still working on the matter which is aimed at getting AMCON the best option.
