Cross River Govt. Shuts Down Night Clubs, Cancels 2020 Carnival

As the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic continues to be on the increase in Nigeria, Cross River State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all night clubs in Calabar, the state capital, and its environs until further notice.

The closure, according to the state government, also includes major event centres where people gather together without observing the covid-19 protocols.

Speaking with reporters in Calabar, Chairman of Covid-19 Taskforce Response Team and Commissioner for Health,Betta Edu, said the closure was to prevent the spread of second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Edu said the Mobile enforcement team on the Compulsory use of Face Mask will soon resume back on the street of Calabar and other major Urban centres in Cross River, saying Cross River must be prevented against the deadly Disease.

The State Covid-19 Chairman also said the annual Carnival Calabar and other crowd related festivities have been cancelled as part of the measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
