Cross River Chief Judge Hands Over Renovated Customary Courts to Judges

The challenges of the inadequate courtroom in Cross River State will soon be a thing of the past as the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Akon Ikpeme, hands over the newly renovated Customary Court of Appeal in Calabar to the judges.

The project, which was initiated within his three months as a substantive Chief Judge according to the Ikpeme, will proffer a solution to the hindrance on the dispensation of justice.

The Chief Judge said the era of judges sharing court rooms at either magistrates or customary courts is over.

She urged the beneficiary judges to live up to expectations as more responsibility will be given to them in the course of their assignment.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Bar and Bench Forum in Cross River State and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, urged the government to pay more attention to the need of judiciary to guarantee speedy justice delivery in the state.
