The pandemic disease sweeping around the globe has disrupted lifestyle left a ripple effect on the economy, affected businesses as most companies are shutting down with workers working remotely. In the midst of all of these however, Jeff Bezos the founder of Amazon is getting richer.

The billionaire recorded a $24 billion increase in his wealth. His net worth jumped to $143.1 billion despite the world being on shutdown. This is almost $40 billion higher than Bill Gates who is now the second richest in the world and is almost twice that of Warren Buffett.

As the population of the world stay-at-home to fight the spread of the pandemic disease. Amazon’s core business became more popular among people. Between April 13-17, the multinational conglomerate technology company share’s jumped to 16.4%. Amazon hit its largest closing price on April 16.

Analysts predicted a 22% jump in revenue for the first quarter, this is before the results expected to be released 30 April. Bank of America analyst also calculated revenue at $73 billion which means $10,000 a second.
