Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has directed that all schools from primary to tertiary institutions in the state should resume on Monday, October 5, 2020, for the third term 2019/2020 academic session.

This directive by the Governor came after a closed-door meeting on Monday, with the Committee on Safe School Re-opening, in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Briefing reporters on the outcome of the meeting with the Governor, Commissioner for Health, Pabara Igwele, and his Education counterpart, Gentle Emela, warned that private schools that do not meet the standards and adherence to the Covid-19 protocols, will be shut down.

Schools in Bayelsa State were shut down on March 21, 2020, following the Covid-19 global pandemic.
