Coronavirus: Plateau govt. shuts down markets, directs workers to work from home

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has directed all public servants from grade level 12 and below to work from home with effect from Wednesday, March 26, 2020, as part of additional to the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

The Governor, who also directed the shutting down of all markets in the state, made this known during a live state broadcast on Coronavirus in Jos after an emergency executive council meeting.

The continued spread of the Coronavirus and the flagrant disregard and disrespect to this directive early given by the state government by some individuals and groups including religious institutions perhaps formed the reason for the new measures.

Arising from an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council, further measures have been taken, which include the shutting down of some places.

To ensure total compliance, the government set up a Task Force on Enforcement and Monitoring.

Governor Lalong who said security agencies have begin enforcement and anyone found violating the new orders shall be arrested, also revealed that should the situation continue, the government shall not hesitate to impose a complete lockdown in order to save the lives of its citizens.
