Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, says that the Italian man, whom is the index case of Coronavirus in Nigeria, will be discharged soon.

Ehanire also hinted that Federal Government has not placed any travel ban on any country.

The Minister said this Thursday in Abuja at a conference with the diplomatic community.

He also told the diplomats that the Federal Government will continue to take measures to tackle the spread of COVID-19.

Ehanire stressed that there are only two confirmed cases in Nigeria as of now which includes the index case and the second who was a primary contact of the index case.

He, however, warned Nigerian citizens from traveling to endemic countries including China, Japan, Italy, South Korea, and Iran.

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Muhammed Babandede, said visa has become key tool not just to promote economic and national development, but also ensure security.

Babandede said the Nigerian visa policy of 2012 was a good effort by the Federal Government in realigning with realities of the ever changing social economic and politics globally.

The Nigerian visa policy outlines the expectations of the Immigration Act of 2015 and Immigration Regulation of 2017 with respect to administration of visa in Nigeria.

The meeting was attended by Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, officials of the NIS, and members of the diplomatic corps.
