All entry points into Borno State will be closed down to vehicular and human traffic from Tuesday, March 31.
The closure will last for two weeks in the first instance.
This is part of the steps to curb the spread of Coronavirus, especially as the number of infected persons continue to increase across the country.
In a statement, Governor Babagana Zulum, said only vehicles and trucks conveying food items, medicines, fuel, and other such goods would be allowed access to the state.
The statement also restricted the number of passengers to three in public taxis and not more than two on tricycles, popularly known as Keke NAPEP.
It directed civil servants from grade levels 1 to 12 to work from home, except those on essential services.
It also suspended the ongoing verification exercise of some government officials.
The Borno State Government advised financial institutions and shops to provide hand sanitizers and temperature monitoring equipment at all operational points and maintain social distancing in crowded areas.
The statement said that the government has put in place, palliatives to cushion the hardship of vulnerable people.
Borno, with its large population of displaced persons, due to insurgency, could face some level of difficult situation in the event of Coronavirus outbreak in the state.
