Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, says Nigeria’s Constitution on natural resources on the Federal Government’s Exclusive List must be reviewed as the country aims at economic emancipation for the citizens.

He said, granting state governments the power to harness natural resources without any barrier, will financially strengthen them.

The exclusivity of natural resources in the states to the Federal Government has continued to be an issue of debate among Nigerians.

Governor Ishaku said one of Taraba’s biggest economic potentials is mining, but this cannot be explored because of its exclusivity to the Federal Government.

He said that Nigeria’s Constitution needs to be reviewed to be a win-win for the Federal Government and the states.

The Taraba State Governor was speaking after inaugurating a new governing board for the state’s College of Agriculture to be chaired by Nigeria’s former Minister, Mohammed Shatta.

The Governor said the institution is strategic to agricultural inventions and modernisation in the state.

Governor Ishaku added that he will continue to work with national and international organisations to obtain low-interest loans for farmers in the state.
