Nigeria’s House of Representatives has vowed to drag public officers found wanting for economic sabotage before anti-graft agencies claiming that many agencies have continued to shortchange the government through inconsistent PPP agreements.

Members of the House Ad hoc Committee investigating the lease of the government’s assets expressed worry over the inconsistencies in the private-public partnership agreement discovered in some government agencies.

In 2012 the Ministry of Finance released a circular directing Ministry, Departments, and Agencies to remit monies generated from the lease and concession of government’s property to the special concession account but from the Committee’s investigation, some of these agencies breached the law.

The Nigerian Port Authority, the Nigerian Immigration Service, and the Federal Airport Authorities of Nigeria are fingered by the lawmakers accusing them of breaching the ICRC Act of 2005.

The lawmakers further threatened to exercise their legislative powers particularly that of a warrant to government officials who fail to appear before them.
