One of the doctors fighting violently against the COVID 19 virus in Nigeria passed away after contracting the COVID 19 virus. On Monday, 13th of April, the brave doctor named Emeka Chugbo was rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital LUTH, after displaying severe symptoms of the virus.
Emeka Chugbo passed away in LUTH on Wednesday 15th of April. According to his friend, Mr Lawal Oyeneyin, the 60-year-old Doctor already had a history with asthma.
Reports revealed that Dr Emeka Chugbo was treating a patient at his private hospital who had the COVID 19 virus. The patients also died last week from the virus.
Dr Emeka Chugbo was not the first doctor in the country to pass away after contracting the virus. On Saturday 11th of April, a doctor named Aliyu Yakubu from the northern region of Nigeria also passed away after contracting the COVID 19 virus.
According to the Nigerian Medical Association, the death of these doctors shows that there is slow and inadequate testing of the virus within the country and also an inadequate supply of protective materials and proper treatment equipment.
